David M. Essayan

David M. Essayan, MD, FACP is Executive Vice President for ONCORD, Inc., a consulting firm based in southern California specializing in the development of new therapies for cancer and immunologic diseases. Prior to joining ONCORD, David was Executive Director of Regulatory Affairs at Amgen, Inc. Prior to Amgen, David was a Supervisory Medical Officer at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Rockville, Maryland and a Principle Investigator in the Laboratory of Tumor Molecular Biology, also at FDA.
 
David was born in New York City and raised in White Plains, NY, the second son of Edward Essayan and Anahid (Chakmaklian) Essayan. David has been active in the Armenian Church since childhood, first at Holy Cross Armenian Church in New York City, then at St. Gregory the Enlightener Armenian Church in White Plains. David was ordained as a Deacon in 2008. David is also an accomplished musician and multi-instrumentalist, having studied classical piano with Bella Shumiatcher in the 1970’s and played guitar in various bands throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s.
 
David received his BS in Chemistry from Yale University and his MD from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at Temple University Hospital and his Fellowship in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he held a faculty appointment for 12 years.
 
David is married to Susan M. Jerian, MD; they have two sons, Gregory Paul Essayan and Daniel Eric Essayan.
